Easy Ways to Stay Healthy

You want to be healthy right? Sounds easy enough. With all of the misinformation out there, it is hard to know what exactly to do. I got you covered with these tips on staying healthy!

01. Follow a whole-foods, plant based diet.

Why? Books can be written about the answer to this question. A plant-based diet is scientifically proven to prevent obesity, chronic disease, and high blood pressure. This way of eating focuses primarily on: fruits, vegetables, whole grains, starches, legumes, nuts, and seeds.

02. No processed foods.

These foods are not plants, but they are rather made in plants. These chemicals and preservatives alienate our food. If you CANNOT pronounce one ingredient, then don’t eat it! Preservatives, additives, flavor enhancers, dyes, and GMO do not belong in the human body. Whole foods focus on one ingredient. Check for clean ingredients and always read the label.

03. Avoid products with health claims.

A food cannot be “superhuman.” A single food cannot make you loose weight, get better skin, improve your health, etc. There is no such thing as the magic pill.

04. Eat as many carbohydrates as your body desires.

Take a look at the wild world, which animals human beings mostly resemble (hint: monkeys and apes) and find out what they eat. The answer is fruits and vegetables. Wild animals look for a fruit tree, eat as much as they need to feel satiated, and they eat again once they feel hungry. Every cell in the human body runs on carbohydrate energy.

05. Move more, but move in a way you enjoy.

Do not do high impact exercise because it “burns more calories.” The human body is more than a number. Not only is it impossible to actually know how much the human body burns, but it is unnecessary information to know. Choose daily movement which you enjoy whether it be yoga, pilates, walking, weight lifting, kickboxing, or dancing in your kitchen at 9 pm.

06. Drink your water.

Sounds too simple but I know many who don’t drink enough. It shouldn’t need to be a reminder. Water helps us maintain the balance of body fluids. The human body is essentially a sack of water. The functions of these bodily fluids include digestion, absorption, circulation, creation of saliva, transportation of nutrients, and maintenance of body temperature.
